HYDRATION MONITOR TEAM
The Challenge:
Hydration status is critical for thermoregulation. Dehydration can be caused by various factors, including heat and diarrhea; additionally, children in warm climates may be more susceptible to heat illness than adults. Although dehydration is treatable, if is often not detected in time.

Our Goal:
Developing a low-cost, non-invasive device to diagnose dehydration, specifically for use in young children, through the use of ultrasound.

Current Progress
Our aim throughout this academic year is to fabricate multiple poly-vinyl alcohol (PVA) phantoms to simulate various levels of hydration - and in order to achieve this goal we have divided our efforts into three categories: simulation, instrumentation, and experimentation.
