PRESIDENT
Trey Pichon 

Trey is a fourth-year bioengineering graduate student developing materials and therapies for trauma, with a focus on hemorrhage, which accounts for approximately one-third of all trauma deaths. In his work, he is striving to understand the relationship and interplay between drug delivery and Global Health.

Matthew Tucker 

Matthew is a fourth-year Bioengineering and Honors Student here at the University of Washington. This is his fourth year with Bioengineers Without Borders and now serves as the VP of Operations. In his free time he avidly loves to player soccer, run, and spend time around Seattle with his friends and classmates. Matthew hopes to help improve BWB as a place for students to grow their engineering application skills into career talents and wants to continue to make the organization a place for all.

Benjamin Kuo

Ben is a third-year biochemistry and microbiology student at the University of Washington intrigued by the many potential applications of bioengineering. He is currently working on creating easily accessible patient monitors that meet the needs of low-resource settings. Working on the leadership team allows him to ensure all teams are able to scale up their projects with assistance from BWB's partners. His hobbies include hiking, singing, and gardening.

Carter Rowell 

Carter is a third-year Bioengineering student from Olympia, Washington. This is his third year with BWB, and he is currently also working in the Daggett Lab to explore the unique protein structures found in amyloid diseases. He is also part of the Honors program at UW and hopes to advocate for ethical practices within the field of Bioengineering. In his free time, Carter enjoys hiking, reading, and playing piano.

Rachel SHI

Rachel is a fourth-year Bioengineering student at the University of Washington. She conducts biomaterials research for applications in dialysis and has also been involved with BWB's Target Malaria Project since freshman year. Outside of school, she enjoys drawing, reading, and exploring new places with friends. She hopes to promote an inclusive and collaborative culture within BWB so that all members are able to find their footing in bioengineering, gain design experience, and learn career-applicable skills.

Annabelle Huang

Annabelle is a fourth-year physiology and philosophy student at the University of Washington. This is her fourth year with BWB, developing accessible assay experimentation and analysis technology for onsite field research. She is interested in public health applications of bioengineering and hopes to foster a strong community. She is also interested in communicable health issues with a focus on genetic and therapeutic solutions. In her free time, Annabelle loves to watch and play sports, and read.

Social Chair
Freyana Kapadia
Freyana is a fourth-year Bioengineering student at UW from Issaquah, Washington. She has been involved with developing an insulin pen for diabetics in disaster zones with the BWB Insulin Anywhere team since her freshman year, and is currently researching cell cultures and artificial tissue engineering in the Sniadecki lab. In her free time, she likes playing the piano, drawing, and working on her Etsy art shop, where she sells stickers. She hopes to help create a close and collaborative community within Bioengineering for all students to comfortably learn and apply Bioengineering skills.

Sky Kim

I'm a second-year Bioengineering student at UW. I'm interested in tissue engineering and expanding access to quality healthcare. This is my second year with BWB's Capnography Team. Outside of school, I enjoy trying out new cafes and restaurants and love being outdoors!

Yeeshouw Wang

Yeeshouw is a first-year engineering student at the University of Washington. He is interested in the applications of bioengineering to immunology to help treat a variety of diseases and disorders. Along with BWB, he hopes to promote and expand the reach and presence of BWB to foster a collaborative and interdisciplinary in the community.

Nitya Lagadapati

I am a first-year engineering student at the University of Washington. I am interested in tissue regeneration and aim to use my engineering education to develop artificial tissue regeneration pathways. Outside of school, I love to watch movies, read, and travel. With this position, I hope to bring people with diverse skill sets and perspectives to the many projects BWB is working on.

FACULTY ADVISOR
Dr. Chris Neils
 
Dr. Neils is a senior lecturer and capstone design project advisor in the bioengineering department at UW. He is a is a supportive and knowledgeable advisor with a background in aeronautics & astronautics as well as bioengineering. His research interests include medical electronic devices, feedback control systems, fluid and structural dynamics, and signal and image processing.
